The
Story
Baramboola
is a peaceful little village where the greatest excitement so
far is the annual contest for Champion Farmer. Last year the winner
was Mass Freddie, before that it was Miss Rachael who is determined
to regain the crown.
That gives rise to rivalry between her and Mass Freddie. She has
a sonBaswell, who is educated in agriculture. He has a daughter
Trudan, who is the reigning Farm Queen. And there is Mother Bwise
woman, versed in the use of herbs and roots, she has one sonbut
he has disappeared.
Early one morning, the villagers are shaken from their beds by
strange tremors. Soon after, their normal life of tranquility
is disrupted, strange things begin to happen. A most unlikely
character calling himself King Root is now on the scene, accompanied
by a band of disreputable charactersCow Itch, Burr-burr,
Deadly Nightshade and Macca. All kinds of disorder occurs until
King Root is tracked down to his underground headquarters.
Root is unmasked as Mother B's errant son and has to "take
his medicine". The young lovers, who were pushed apart by
the conflicts between their parents, are reunited. As usualthe
ending is happy.
