The
Little Theatre was built on lands purchased from the Government
of Jamaica with funds raised by the annual Pantomimes, and supplemented from donations from the public over the years. In September
of 1961, the theatre opened
its doors and has remained open since. Over the years,
various adjustments have been made to the structure bringing
it into the twenty first century.
The theatre seats 600 and its facilities include Front of
House Staff, Box Office, Security, Fly Tower, Parking, Bar/Canteen,
Construction Shed, Lighting & Sound Equipment.
Also on the grounds is the Little-Little Theatre, a studio-style
facility which seats 150.
The Little Theatre Complex facilitates a wide range of cultural
activity throughout the year, from school groups to amateur
and professional performing ensembles. It is the home of the
National Dance Theatre Company and the Pantomime
Company.
